Update on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury & Arsenal absence.

John Cross has an update on the injury prognosis for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Mirror on Sunday.
On Friday Arsene Wenger confirmed the bad news: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is out with a “serious injury”.
The Ox was forced off the pitch five minutes into the second half of this week’s Champions League defeat against Barcelona, when he was replaced by Theo Walcott.
Earlier in the match, the midfielder had the opportunity to fire the Gunners into the lead, however he blew his chance from four yards out as his shot went straight to keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The Ox was withdrawn at the start of the second half after failing to recover from an injury picked up when he clattered into Javier Mascherano, while the club were waiting for the results from specialists before giving any statements on when the player will be back.
John Cross has now reported:
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is is hoping to be back in five weeks. It leaves Oxlade-Chamberlain facing a race against time to get fit for England’s Euro 2016 squad.
Oxlade-Chamberlain saw a second specialist on Friday and was told that he will not need surgery on the knee ligaments damaged against Barcelona.
