Borussia Dortmund chief executive officer Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed the club will only listen to offers in excess of €100 million for star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon international has been in sensational form this season for the Bundesliga side and has scored an incredible 22 goals in 25 league matches.
Aubameyang’s top form has seen the 26-year-old linked to a host of top European clubs this campaign. According to Le10Sport Arsenal are one of the side’s interested and are prepared to offer in excess of £62 million (€79m) to get the forward.
However, Watzke has insisted Dortmund tied Aubameyang to a new contract because they want to keep him, and has indicated the side will only consider offers over €100m (£79m) for the former Saint-Etienne player.
Speaking to Kicker, magazine (via Goal) the chief executive said: “It was no coincidence we renewed his contract until 2020.
“It is our wish that he will score many goals for Borussia Dortmund in the future.
“If someday there really arrives an offer of €100 or €120 million for him, we will discuss it. But we want to keep him above 2020.”
Such a figure would almost break the world record transfer fee, depending on the exchange rate at the time of the deal, and it remains to be seen if any side if willing to pay that amount for an obviously talented striker.
Any deal would be dependent on Aubameyang wanting to move as well, and the forward has recently said he wants to stay with Dortmund although he would like to play for Real Madrid one day.
