Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez takes to Twitter to react to the news of the Hillsborough verdict.
Luis Suarez has taken to social media to acknowledge the Hillsborough verdict, and pay tribute to the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives at the stadium in 1989.
The Uruguay international clearly still holds Liverpool close to his heart despite having left Anfield to join Barcelona in the summer of 2014.
Suarez shared the picture above of himself paying tribute to the Hillsborough victims on Twitter and along with an accompanying message on the social network.
An inquest ruled this week that the fans had been “unlawfully killed” after fans and campaigners worked for the cause for more than 27 years following the horrific incident.
Liverpool are currently preparing for their Europa League semi-final first leg clash against Villarreal in Spain on Thursday night.
With the Reds adrift of the top four in the Premier League, their best chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League may come through winning the Europa League this term.
