JOSE MOURINHO has agreed to become the new manager of Manchester United, according to Guillem Balague.
The Spanish football expert claims the former Chelsea boss will replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Balague also says that the Dutchman thinks he is staying at United and the Red Devils are refusing to confirm the appointment of Mourinho.
He tweeted: "On Mou. His people say all done with United. Most football people think all done too. MUFC say no decision made. Lvg thinks he's staying."
Van Gaal has been under pressure for much of the current campaign after being dumped out of the Champions League in the group stage.
The Red Devils currently sit fifth in the Premier League and exited the Europa League at the hands of arch-rivals Liverpool, putting him under increased scrutiny.
Yesterday Mourinho requested a written promise from Old Trafford officials stating he would be taking over after comments made by Sir Alex Ferguson.
The former United manager publicly backed Van Gaal, which caused concerns in the Special One's camp.
However, Balague's comments suggest Mourinho will be the new Red Devils boss come the start of next season.
United return to Premier League action on Sunday when they face a tough Tottenham side at White Hart Lane.
