Jose Mourinho made a rare public appearance at the O2 Arena on Saturday night as he sat in the front row to watch Anthony Joshua knock Charles Martin aside.
Spare time is something Mourinho has had plenty of in recent times. He was dismissed from his role as Chelsea manager in December and has been patiently waiting to get back into football ever since.
The Portuguese was happy to discuss his future with one reporter and even paid homage to those incessant reports linking him to Manchester United.
Louis van Gaal looks set to be sacked if he cannot guide the Red Devils into a top four place and the newspapers would have us believe that Mourinho is waiting in the wings for just such an occurrence.
But it is less clear than that; some reports suggest that Van Gaal has already been told he is staying regardless of what happens and Ryan Giggs is set to take over when his contract expires in 2017.
Mourinho, no doubt tired of the uncertainty, refused to confirm or deny that he was talking to Manchester United officials but did say he does not have a contract with any club. He also confirmed that the Premier League would be his first choice for his next job in management.
Speaking to Sky Sports at the Joshua-Martin fight, he said: "[Van Gaal] is my friend, I worked with him for a few years.
"I am always linked with jobs and in the summer I will have a job, but in this moment I can promise you I do not have a contract with any club.
"I am not in a position to turn [jobs] down, I am in a position to analyse. I am in a position to be open to any club or national team.
"I have to be honest, if possible I would prefer a club but I must analyse to see what is best for my career and to be back with everything I have.
"I would prefer [to be in England]. I love the country, I love the football here, my family is very stable and happy. If possible yes, it would be my first choice."
SYRIAN APPROACH
One offer he did not consider, however, is one from the Syrian FA to take charge of their national team. They published a copy of their formal approach to Facebook and Mourinho confirmed it was genuine, but that he politely declined.
On the approach from Syria, he said: “They [The Syrian FA] published [the offer] on their website the letter they sent to my agent. That one I have to say is true, but I have to say in a very special way we said we were not interested in the job.
